Description
Washington Alloy 71T-11 is a general purpose
self-shielded flux-cored wire designed for all position, single-pass and
limited multiple-pass lap, fillet and butt welds on mild or galvanized
steed of less than ¾” thickness. (Do not use on steel plates thicker
than ¾”). Washington Alloy 71T-11 is easy to use because it requires no
shielding gas - no large gas cylinders to lug around. It has a very
stable arc, low spatter and slag removal is easy.
Applications
Washington Alloy 71T-11 is commonly found
being used in structural beams on outdoor construction projects, where
adverse weather conditions hinder the flow of gas or where gas cylinders
are not an option for logistical reason. 71T-11 is also used in the
fabrication of machinery parts, tanks, prefab constructions and light
structural frameworks.
NOTE: As with all self-shielded wires,
Washington Alloy 71T-11 does contain fluoride compounds, which require
more attention to ventilation when being used to weld galvanized steel.
The zinc oxide formed during welding should no be inhaled as it can
cause metal fume fever. When welding indoors or in an enclosed area, be
sure that the ventilation is adequate.
