Description:
Vulcan 460-AP is a high-speed, all-position electrode specifically developed for maintenance welding of mild steels. Operates on almost any AC or DC welding machine even with low voltage. Its low amperage requirement controls distortion when welding thin sheet metal. Outstanding restarting characteristics.

Typical Applications:
Fabrication of dissimilar gauge mild steels. Great for ducts, tanks, machine guards, angle iron, beams, pipes, and steel tubing. Can also be used for filling holes and build-up of overmachined and worn surfaces.

Specs:
Tensile Strength - up to 90,000 PSI
Hardness - 20 to 25 RC
Yield Strength - up to 80,000 PSI
Elongation Factor - 23 to 25%

Procedure:
Remove as much foreign material as practical from the weld area. DC reverse polarity (electrode +) produces deep penetration. DC straight polarity (electrode -) will have limited penetration and a flatter bead. AC prevents arc blow. A medium arc length should be maintained with either stringer or weave beads. Slag is easily removed with a light chipping hammer.
